Curry Blossom was inspired by my Pakistani grandmother who spent a great portion of her days cooking for our daily family dinners. I don’t think I truly appreciated how lucky we were at the time. When you are a teenager and are different sometimes you just want to be and do like everyone else. Now that I’m older and wiser I realize how truly lucky we were to have her to cook for and care for us.
What you are looking at in this piece are two of her signature dishes that weren’t served together but are two things that I remember being delicious, shrimp curry on a bed of white rice with a few yellow lentils in it.
Whenever I go to an Indian or Pakistani restaurant her cooking is always the bar to which they are measured and judged.
