the color of her spirit blossom
The Color of her Sprit Blossom was inspired by my friend Cindy Friedeman who is another wonderful Leadership Oklahoma classmate. When he introduced herself at the opening retreat, she shared that her spirit animal was turquoise. I however knew that she meant that turquoise was her spirit color, and this piece is made from the color of her spirit. The color turquoise is associated with meanings of refreshing, feminine, calming, sophisticated, energy, wisdom, serenity, wholeness, creativity, emotional balance, good luck, spiritual grounding, friendship, love, joy, tranquility, patience, intuition, and loyalty. Cindy is all of those things and more. During our LOK year Cindy and I became great friends and spent hour upon hour discussing art after I discovered that she was a talented painter. That same year she was a Co-Chair for the Oklahoma City Museum of Art Omelette Party and she insisted that I make a piece of art for the event. The only problem with that was that I had never made a “real” piece of art for anyone. She is THE reason that I am making the art that I am making today. She has been encouraging, inspiring and supportive and I don’t think that I will ever be able to adequately express how grateful I am for her friendship and her wonderful spirit.
