Philotes Blossom was inspired by by my amazing friend Tracey Zeeck who I became friends with at the exact moment in my life when I needed a friend like her. Tracey was kind and caring and helped me get my life moving again. Tracey, her husband and I collaborated on trying to save Stage Center Theater which gave me new purpose and that effort was the thing that later brought Blossom and I together. Tracey also brought me into the wonderful family of Oklahoma City Festival of the Arts volunteers and started over a decade of participation in one of my favorite events in the community each year. Tracey is an incredible wife and mother, wonderfully creative, generous and caring but most of all she is an amazing friend, so this piece is named after Philotes the Greek goddess who like Tracey personifies friendship.
